ARCHIVED - Fire almost destroys home of British expats in Pinoso
Flames ripped through a wooden garage attached to a home in the Mitja Vinalopo town, Alicante province
British expats in Pinoso almost lost their entire home after a fire ripped through a wooden shed attached to the property, spreading to a nearby car and damaging a motorhome.
The occupants were not home when the blaze started, and thankfully no injuries have been reported, but the garage in Calle Carche de Pinoso burned to the ground in the fire on Sunday afternoon, February 20.
The alarm was raised at 3.28pm, and a team of five firefighters from Elda station, equipped with a heavy duty pump and ladder, spent two hours tackling the flames.
According to emergency sources, the fire started in the wooden garage and affected two vehicles, generating intense black smoke which could be seen for some distance.
The cause of the fire is, as yet, unknown.
