ARCHIVED - You can fly to 97 destinations from Alicante Airport this autumn and winter 2022-23
Alicante-Elche airport connects this winter with 23 countries and 87 cities, with Ryanair maintaining its position as the leading airline at the airport
This autumn and winter season, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport has a total of 155 flight routes going to 97 separate destinations in 87 cities (because some cities have several airports) in 23 different countries.
This low season, which starts on Sunday October 30, 2022, and will last until the end of March 2023, the majority of the flights are being offered by Alicante Airport’s leading airline, Ryanair.
On Thursday October 27, Ryanair announced its winter season schedule at Alicante-Elche airport, where it has been operating for 15 years.
Since its first flight from Alicante to London Stansted all those years ago, Ryanair has carried more than 45 million passengers from the Alicante terminal. This winter, the Irish carrier will add four new routes from Alicante – to Fez (Morocco), Helsinki (Finland), Frankfurt (Germany) and Lodz (Poland), bringing the total to 64 routes.

The Ryanair schedule for winter 2023 includes seven overnight aircraft every night and more than 460 weekly flights, which the company says will maintain 3,900 jobs.
Elena Cabrera, Ryanair Country Manager for Spain and Portugal, said, “Ryanair is delighted to celebrate the 15th anniversary of its operations and its base in Alicante, having carried more than 45 million passengers to date. With seven aircraft based, a $700 million investment and more than 210 well-paid pilot and cabin crew jobs, Ryanair continues to offer more traffic, more growth and lower fares than any other airline in Alicante. This winter, we offer more than 460 weekly flights on 64 routes, including four exciting destinations such as Fez, Helsinki, Frankfurt Hahn and Lodz.”
Ryanair ground handling staff were due to go on strike recently in Spain until the new year. This strike has been called off for the time being, but not because their demands for better pay and more recruitment have been met, but rather because a government decree that minimum services should be maintained has made it “impossible” to carry out industrial action, violating workers’ “fundamental rights”.
