Valencian restaurant slammed for insulting vegan customer
The eatery described the customer as a “ball breaker” for ordering a dish without meat
We’ve all been left decidedly underwhelmed by the food or service at a restaurant at one time or another, but one table of customers at a Valencia eatery was shocked when they received their bill, at it wasn’t just because of the hefty price.
Photos published on social media by @soycamarero have had more than 35,000 views with most people slamming the restaurant for its “unfortunate” treatment of paying customers.
“The spaghetti that my friend had initially ordered was mushroom with cheese without meat,” the user explained. However, this dish wasn’t actually available but “nobody told us and without consulting they brought this out, just spaghetti with tomato.”
The customer went on to say that she and her fellow diners were disappointed when the restaurant charged the same price for this substandard meal, which wasn’t even what they ordered.
“The ones I made at home look better,” she pointed out.
But their disappointment would quickly turn to anger. When the bill arrived, the underwhelming dish, spaghetti boscaiola, was underscored with a nasty little message from the waiter which read: “Without meat for the rompe bolas (ball breaker)”.
The hurtful phrase was typed under the title of the dish, which is normally used by wait staff to highlight any changes to the dish for the chefs.
Incredibly, this unprofessional treatment wasn’t the only thing the diners had to complain about.
“15 euros for a plate of mashed potatoes with eggs, bacon and grated truffle. Do you see the truffle? Me neither,” the customer wrote under a snap of a dish titled Torreznos aparte on the menu.
When the missing truffle was pointed out to the waiter, he told the customer that it was out of season.
In the end, there was “not even an apology from the waiter, that was the worst,” she concluded.
