Body of dead woman with over 30 stab wounds found in Abanilla, Murcia
Both the victim and the main suspect in the murder are thought to be foreigners
The corpse of a woman was found in a field in the municipality of Abanilla on Wednesday April 10 with more than thirty stab wounds in her.
The body was discovered by a man from Hondón de los Frailes at around 8am on Wednesday, when he was driving along the RM-422 road, which links Abanilla with the municipality of Pinoso, in Alicante.
The woman had bruises on her face and a stab wound in her abdomen. She was wearing a grey jacket and pink trainers and was naked from the waist down. The lifeless body was taken to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Murcia, where an autopsy is being performed to reveal the exact cause of death and other decisive information for the investigation, such as whether she was sexually assaulted.
Initial indications suggest she was not a victim of sexual aggression, and that the body may have been moved to the field and dumped there, rather than that being the place where she died.
The victim had no documents on her when she was found, and so DNA, fingerprints and teeth will be used to try to identify her. What is currently known is that she was a white woman, aged around 30 years old.
In Abanilla, some locals commented that she was possibly a foreign woman, probably from an Eastern European country, whom they had never seen before in the village.
Early enquiries into the death of the have already lead police to a suspect in Alicante. Images from a security camera point to the owner of a car who was at the place where the body was found.
That owner is said to be a man of North African origin who resides in Alicante.
Working on the premise that the murder victim worked as a prostitute, police have issued warnings to sex workers along the Fortuna road (the RM-423) and other common areas where they ply their trade to exercise caution.
