Throughout July, TRAM users can discover Alicante province's beaches for free on Sundays

What should be a relaxing and carefree day at the beach can quickly become a nightmare, packing up the car and slowly making your way through congested summer traffic before spending forever trying to find a parking space.

But discovering Alicante province's stunning beaches doesn't have to be so frustrating.

The Valencian goverment, through Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV), is promoting direct Alicante TRAM travel to a number of beaches across the province this summer.

And for the remainder of July, users can jump aboard for free on Sundays. The move is part of the government's 'Pla Reactiva' initiative which aims to promote the use of public transport.

"We want to encourage the use of public transport, contribute to the decongestion of towns and cities and reduce pollution to advance in the fight against climate change," explained the Valencian President, Ximo Puig.

These are the lines and beach stops

Lines 1, 3, 4 and 5 of TRAM d'Alacant, along with Line 9 that runs along the coast between Benidorm and Denia will allow access "comfortably" to these points of the coast.

Line 1 has stops close to: El Campello, Amerador, Coveta Fumà, Cala Piteras, Venta Lanuza and Paradis.

Line 3; La Isleta, Albufereta, Costa Blanca, Carabiners, Muchavista, Les Llances, Fabraquer, Salesians and El Campello, the latter is also accessible from Line 1.

The closest beach stops on Line 4 are La Isleta, Albufereta – also available on Line 3 and 5 – Cabo Huertas, Avenida Benidorm, Londres and Plaza La Coruña.

Line 5 has the same stops as Line 4, with the addition of La Marina and Porta del Mar.

In addition, Line 9 provides access to beaches in Denia, Altea and Calpe.

"The four streetcar lines (L1 Luceros-Benidorm; L3 Luceros-El Campello; L4 Luceros-Plaza La Coruña; and L5 Porta del Mar-Plaza La Coruña) have more than 20 stops near the beaches of different municipalities that allow 286 daily services to provide access from early morning until late evening.

"The TRAM d'Alacant network connects the city of Alicante with 12 municipalities in the province facilitating daily mobility to the beach without the need to use the car," added Puig.
