ARCHIVED - Sizzling temperatures of up to 35 degrees in Alicante and Valencia provinces this weekend
Temperatures expected to soar along the Costa Blanca this weekend reaching up to 35 degrees.
Spain's State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) is forecasting temperatures normally experienced only in the height of the summer for the three provinces of the Valencia Region this weekend, in particular on Sunday.
While temperatures of 30 degrees are extremely likely, Aemet predicts they could reach 35 degrees in parts, with the Costa Blanca expected to be amongst the hottest beaches in Spain.
Westerly winds are expected for the remainder of today (Friday, May 14) and tomorrow, keeping temperatures high and humidity relatively low.
But sea breezes are likely to blow several kilometres inland, helping to cool the coastal strip, according to Aemet.
El fin de semana va a ser muy cálido, con temperaturas que superarán los 30 ºC de forma generalizada en las provincias de Valencia y Alicante, en localidades de las comarcas del prelitoral se pueden superara los 35 ºC.

The agency is advising sun seekers to follow preventive Covid measures and use sun protection on beaches and any other outdoor areas, reminding that in mid-May ultraviolet (UV) levels are "high or very high", similar to mid-August.
