Benidorm opens 350 free beachside parking spaces for the summer
The extra spaces near Benidorm’s Old Town will be available from July 1

Finding a parking space near the beach during the summer season is one of the greatest challenges facing both locals and tourists in Benidorm. In response to the growing demand, Benidorm City Council will open the full parking facility on Avenida Puerto Rico, located in the Poniente area just steps from the beach, starting Monday July 1.
This move will make all 150 indoor spaces within the so-called ‘golden’ building available, in addition to the 200 surface-level spaces that have already been open to the public. These combined 350 spaces, on the cusp of Benidorm’s famous Old Town, will remain free to use throughout July and August.
Councillor for Mobility Francis Muñoz explained that “currently, and as usual, we have 200 spaces available on the parking deck, which is connected to the beachfront via a 24-hour elevator.”
“With the arrival of July and given the evident increase in demand, we are also opening the 150 spaces spread across the building's interior floors from 9am to midnight,” the councillor added.
This interior section has remained closed until now but will be operational again from July 1.
As in previous summers, there will be no charge to use the spaces during the high season.
However, Councillor Muñoz noted that “as we previously announced, the City Council's intention is to tender the management of this parking lot following the model of the L'Aigüera parking lot, in order to provide the best possible service to residents, visitors and tourists during the busiest times of the year.”
The L’Aigüera model involves keeping the facility publicly owned while allowing a private company to provide maintenance, security and assistance with operational services.
A similar approach is being planned for the Poniente parking lot, and the Local Government Board approved the tender this week. The initial contract will be offered at just over €72,000, spread over two years.
In addition to the Avenida Puerto Rico car park, the western zone of Benidorm also includes more than 900 park-and-ride spaces across three nearby lots on Avenida de Xixo, Avenida Cuba and Avenida Alcalde Vicente Pérez Devesa.
