Ryanair announces three new destinations from Alicante Airport

After a bumper summer that saw tourism numbers bounce back to pre-pandemic levels, Alicante Airport promises to be busier than ever this coming winter with low-cost airline Ryanair announcing three new exciting destinations: Budapest in Hungary, Paderborn in Germany and Warsaw in Poland.

The Irish carrier also confirmed on Monday October 2 that passengers flying from Valencia Airport will have four more city break options: Birmingham in the UK, Memmingen in Germany and Wroclaw and Warsaw, both in Poland.

In total, this winter Ryanair will offer 68 routes and will increase the weekly number of flights available to and from 42 destinations, including London, Brussels, Dublin, Milan and Manchester.

The company’s 2023/2024 schedule at Alicante Airport will be helped on its way by two new aircraft, bringing the number of passenger jets based in the province up to nine, with a fresh investment of 900 million dollars, according to Ryanair’s country manager for Spain and Portugal, Elena Cabrera. In addition, she said the airline is confident that it “will increase to 6.5 million passengers in the fiscal year of 2024.”

To celebrate the launch of the winter schedule, the airline is offering fares from just 29.99 euros, which are now available on the Ryanair website and mobile app.

“We are proud to continue promoting connectivity, tourism and employment in Alicante,” Ms Cabrera concluded.

In the coming hours, passengers should know if Ryanair will be forced to change its baggage policies as members of the EC are set to vote on whether low-cost airlines should allow free carry-on luggage.

Ahead of the ground-breaking meeting, scheduled for Wednesday October 4, Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson remained steadfast in his claims that the company’s aircraft simply aren’t large enough to accommodate complementary hand luggage for every passenger.
