ARCHIVED - Over 3 million people in Valencia now fully vaccinated; Covid update August 11
Eight deaths in the past 7 days across the region’s three provinces, including Alicante
The latest Covid update in the Comunidad Valenciana reports 1,629 new cases of the virus along with a 24.63-point drop in the cumulative incidence rate.
The cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants in the past 14 days now stands at 428.39, below the national incidence rate (503.42), and the third lowest in the country, after Asturias (301.73) and the Canary Islands (422.99).
Of the 1,629 cases, 744 were in Alicante (165,524 in total), 727 in Valencia (259,359 in total) and 157 in Castellón.
Active cases: there are currently 21,818 active cases in the region of Valencia, which represent 4.41 per cent of the total positives.
Vaccinations: 3,526,535 people have now received at least one dose and 3,002,741 are fully immunised.
The regional government is trying to vaccinate as much of the population as possible and has launched a campaign to administer jabs to people who didn’t receive vaccines with the rest of their age group.
Fatalities: there have unfortunately been eight reported deaths realted to the pandemic in the last seven days, meaning the total is 7,554: 2,873 in Alicante; 3,864 in Valencia; and 817 in Castellón.
Hospitalizations: there has been a slight drop in Covid patients since the previous update on August 10, when there were 626 people in Valencia’s hospitals. The figure now stands at 616 patients, of whom 107 are in intensive care. By province: 205 patients in Alicante (28 in ICU); 328 in Valencia (61 in ICU); and 83 in Castellón (18 in ICU).
