ARCHIVED - Second chance for those who missed their Covid jab in Valencia
Text messages will be sent to unvaccinated citizens across the Valencia region, including the province of Alicante
The regional Ministry of Health in Valencia has launched a campaign to “recapture” the people who didn’t turn up for their Covid vaccine appointment.
This Thursday (August 12), the people who missed their first appointment will receive a text message with a link which will allow them to choose the week of their next appointment from four different options: last two weeks of August or first two weeks of September.
Allowing people to choose the week of their vaccine will hopefully avoid interference with holidays and work obligations and ensure that everyone gets a second chance to receive their jab.
Regional Health minister Ana Barceló explains that this initiative aims to “recapture” those who couldn’t attend their vaccine appointment because they “had another appointment, for health reasons, because they were unsure or because they simply forgot”.
She adds that people need to get vaccinated not only for themselves, but also for others, to prevent infecting the most vulnerable.
The vaccination campaign has progressed to 16 to 19-year-olds in the region, with over 160,000 teenagers receiving their first doses this week.
