ARCHIVED - One thousand vaccinated at new site in Calpe and tips for those called this week
The vaccines were administered over three days in Calpe in the Marina Alta comarca, Alicante province.
A mass vaccination point was set up at the municipalities indoor sports facilities and saw more than 300 people immunised each day.
It's hoped this week's roll-out of the vaccine with go "as smoothly" and to ensure there are no delays, the local health department is offering advice to residents for both before and after receiving the jab.
The public is reminded to only go to the vaccination point if they have received a message stipulating what day and time.
In addition, they are asked to wear a surgical or FP2 masks, as entry won't be allowed if wearing as cloth mask.
Before getting vaccinated:
* To find out more information about the types of vaccine, people are encouraged to consult official sources, such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Health or the World Health Organisation.
* Anybody within the specified age group will receive an SMS message or a phone call indicating when they will receive their vaccine, but if not, they should contact the local health centre.
* In the vaccination centre, the health personnel will first ask about any allergies before a dose is injected.
* Anyone under drug treatment should consult with their doctor to check if it can impact on the effectiveness of the vaccine.
During vaccination:
* Wear comfortable clothing that allows the upper part of the arm to be uncovered easily to speed up the process. It is recommended to inject the vaccine in the arm that is used the least, so if someone is left-handed, it will be injected in the right.
* After getting vaccinated, it's advisable to "live a normal life while still respecting the security measures".
"And remember it is very important that all patients have their contact information updated, associated with their SIP card," said Calpe's health team.
Health workers and volunteers from the Calpe Red Cross, Calpe Civil Protection and Emergencies, Local Police and municipal personnel have teamed up to speed up the vaccination campaign in Calpe, a popular tourist destination and home to 1,670 expats.
