Imserso budget holidays for pensioners in Spain 2025-2026: Where you can go and how to apply
This season, the Imserso Tourism Programme has 879,213 places for seniors, but you must apply by July 23

The time has come again for retirees and pensioners to apply for their place in the Imserso Tourism Programme. This 2025-2026 season has 879,213 places for seniors, which can be requested until July 23 of this year.
These budget friendly holidays start at just €132.91 and there’s a huge range of destinations all across Spain, from rural retreats to city breaks, beach holidays and cultural tours.
Anyone who has previously availed themselves of the Imserso deal is already accredited and won’t need to complete a new application. These seasoned travellers will automatically receive a document containing their personal information and destination preferences. If nothing has changed, they won’t need to do anything further but if they need to change any details, the deadline is July 23.
How to apply for a place on the Imserso
Those new to the Imserso Tourism Programme will need to complete their application from scratch. The process is simple and can be done in several ways. The fastest way is to do it online through the Imserso website.
The other option is to download the application form from the website, fill it out and send it in a prepaid envelope to the Imserso Tourism Program address at PO Box 10140, 28080 Madrid.
Alternatively, you can submit it in person to the Imserso General Directorate (Madrid), the Ceuta Territorial Directorate, the Melilla Territorial Directorate or other offices designated by the autonomous communities.
Applications from residents of Germany, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Switzerland can be processed through the relevant Departments of Labour, Immigration and Social Security.
Requirements for Imserso trips
Those residing in Spain who meet any of the following requirements may participate in the Imserso Tourism Programme:
- Be a retirement pensioner under the Spanish Social Security system.
- Be a widow's pensioner aged 55 or older under the Spanish Social Security system.
- Be a pensioner under other conditions under the Spanish Social Security system or a recipient of unemployment benefits or subsidies, aged 60 or older.
- Be insured or a beneficiary of the Spanish Social Security system, aged 65 or older.
- Spaniards residing abroad, provided they meet any of the above requirements.
- Spaniards of emigrant origin who have returned to Spain, provided they are pensioners of the public social security systems of the country or countries to which they emigrated.
Guests may be accompanied by their spouse or, where applicable, by a common-law partner or a person with whom they have a stable, cohabiting relationship. Children with disabilities of 45% or greater may also come along, provided they travel with their parents and stay in the same room or pay the supplement for single rooms.
To qualify for a place in the Imserso Tourism Programme, a system has been established that allows for equal access. Thus, the 879,213 people with the highest scores will be awarded a place after weighing the following criteria:
- Age: Those under 60 receive 1 point and those over 60 receive 2 points, plus one more point for each year, up to a maximum of 20 points. If the traveller is accompanied by a companion, the age considered will be the mean of the ages of each person.
- Disability status: If a person has a disability, they will receive 10 points.
- Financial situation: The person's monthly income will be considered (if accompanied, the sum of both incomes divided by 1.33 will be used). The maximum score is 50 points and depends on the income bracket.
- Participation in previous years: Those who have not enjoyed a place in previous years are encouraged to enter the programme. The maximum score is 225 points.
- Large families: If the applicant is a member of a special large family, they receive 10 points, and if they are a general large family, they receive 5 points.
