ARCHIVED - High risk of wildfires in the Comunidad Valenciana over the next few days
Extreme temperatures across Spain, including the Alicante province, will increase the risk of forest fires
Following a warning from Aemet about the intense heatwave due to hit the Comunidad Valenciana, the College of Forest Engineers have warned that there will be a high-risk of wildfires over the next few days.
The high temperatures forecast across Spain from this Thursday (August 12) mean that forest fire warning maps will be coloured red for the rest of the week. Low humidity levels and the large quantity of vegetation in the province of Alicante, added to the extreme temperatures, make wildfires even more likely.
The regional emergency services have issued warnings to the population, urging people to protect themselves from the extreme heat and to take precautionary measures to prevent wildfires.
Anyone who spots a forest fire should alert the emergency services by calling 112 immediately.
