ARCHIVED - German motorist arrested after high-speed chase through centre of Benidorm leaves 5 officers injured
Inside the vehicle, Benidorm police found items related to the alleged illegal installation of pirated television decoders

A 42-year-old German man has been arrested after a five-minute high-speed chase through Benidorm's busiest central road and pedestrian areas, crashing into a police vehicle and injuring five officers.
The terrifying pursuit occurred around 1.50pm on Thursday March 9 when a National Police team working on Citizen Security tried to stop a vehicle in Avenida Mediterráneo that had "travelled at high speed through the town, putting citizens at serious risk," according to a police statement.
The driver "disregarded" the police signals to pull over and instead put his foot down and sped off through heavily populated pedestrian areas, "endangering people and causing serious damage to street furniture".
A police car set chase and other patrols were mobilised to intercept the vehicle and apprehend the driver.
An anonymous TikTok user posted a clip on his account - which already has already been viewed more than 775,000 views - showing how the black Audi with tinted windows fleeing from four police cars.
One of the police vehicles even collided with the fleeing car, although the driver managed to continue his escape.
Finally, the officers manage to stop the vehicle on Levante beach promenade and handcuff the driver, who "actively" resisted.
He has been charged with the offences of attacking an officer in authority, causing damage and offences against road safety.
Inside the vehicle a multitude of items "possibly related to the alleged illegal installation of pirate television decoders" was found, as well as a large quantity of cash.
All the items were seized and the National Police has opened an investigation into "possible criminal activity".
