ARCHIVED - Extended hours and larger groups in bars: new Alicante Covid restrictions from September 28
The Valencian government announces new relaxed anti-Covid measures in next phase of return to normality
With 90% of the population vaccinated with at least one dose, almost four million fully immunised and a cumulative incidence rate below 50 cases per 100,000 people, the Valencian Government has agreed to relax anti-Covid measures further by increasing capacity levels, extending opening hours and allowing dancing in nightclubs.
As the region heads for “new normality”, the region’s Interdepartmental Commission has confirmed nightlife venues will benefit most from the changes, and will be able to stay open until 5am with increased capacity of 75% and designated dance areas.
A total of 10 eased measures will come into force on Tuesday September 28, and remain in place until October 8, the day before Community of Valencia Day, and the government is currently in talks with representatives from the leisure and festival sectors with regards to initiating a Covid passport scheme.
Other new measures are as follows:
- Capacity limits will be abolished in cinemas, theatres, museums, auditoriums and libraries, along with in shops and festive venues.
- Capacity levels wil be increased to 75% indoors in bars and restaurants, with a maximum of 10 people per table. Customers will also be able to drink at the bar, as long as seats or stools are provided. In addition, they will be able to remain open as long as their licence permits.
- Banquet and conference venues will have an increased capacity of 75%.
- Stadiums and sports halls that host professional football and basketball league games will have modified capacity levels of 60% outdoors and 40% in covered areas.
- Gyms and outdoor swimming pools will be allowed up to 75% capacity.
President of the Valencia region, Ximo Puig, announced last week that the aim is to restore “maximum activity possible” from October 9, adding that “the recovery of tourism and exports is crucial for economic growth, and we are in dialogue with the sectors to ensure they adapt to the new scenario”.
