ARCHIVED - Drunk driver six times over the limit ploughs into group of pedestrians in Pilar de Horadada
Two sisters and another woman were run over at a pedestrian crossing in the Vega Baja town, Alicante province
A drunk driver who tested six times over the legal alcohol limit lost control of his vehicle at a pedestrian crossing in Pilar de Horadada careering into and running over two sisters and another woman.
The horror crash happened at around 7.15pm on Thursday July 7, at a crossing in Calle Mayor, according to the Emergency Information and Coordination Centre that immediately despatched a Basic Life Support ambulance and a SAMU unit.
Once on the scene, medics treated two women aged 46 for polytrauma, and a third, 51, for polycontusions.
All three victims were taken to Torrevieja Hospital for further treatment and the motorist was arrested on the spot for reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.
