ARCHIVED - British developer to invest 17 million euros in new residential development in Torrevieja
Taylor Wimpey plans to build seafront apartments in the Punta Prima area of the Vega Baja, Alicante province
As the property industry experiences an upturn across the Costa Blanca, British developer Taylor Wimpey has announced that it plans to invest 17 million euros building a new seafront apartment complex in Punta Prima, Torrevieja.
This is the second housing project the firm has undertaken on the Costa Blanca this year, during the fifth wave of the pandemic, following the start of the construction of the Essential complex in Javea.
Last year, the developer embarked on two other projects, the Kiruna Hills apartments in Elche, and Iconic complex in Gran Alacant.
The latest project to increase housing stock in Torrevieja will be built in Salinera, in the Punta Prima area, where the company has already built homes, and is expected to be completed by November 2022.
The new gated development of apartments, with closed-curcuit surveillance, will feature two and three-bedroom homes with large terraces overlooking the Mediterranean. The Posidonia complex will also boast spacious garden areas, three swimming pools, one partially heated, and direct access to the promenade.
"The Spanish coast continues to be a key location for residential property purchases in Spain, as both national and international clients continue to look for modern, bright homes, where they can not only enjoy themselves but also telecommute, with good seafront locations and good transport links," explained Marc Pritchard, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Spain.
With this new project, Taylor Wimpey España is currently building nine new developments this year in Spain, in its three core areas; the Costa Blanca, Costa del Sol and the Balearic Islands.
And, according to the company, its property reservation and sales levels in September were triple those of September 2019, prior to the pandemic
"This data is a clear indication of the surge in demand for home buying that has occurred following the impact of covid for both residential and investment," added Pritchard.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Vega Baja, residents are up in arms over a new development in Orihuela Costa.
