ARCHIVED - 73-year-old Valencia Mayor complains vociferously on social media about not being vaccinated
The Mayor of Valencia was immediately given an appointment and vaccinated the next day
Valencia Mayor Joan Ribó says he continually gave the regional health authority his details, fearing he had been left "in limbo" and forgotten about as his peers were all called up to be vaccinated.
In fact, he was so tired of reminding the authorities he had been overlooked, he had almost given up, and took to Twitter to express his frustration: within hours he received a message at 7.45am on Thursday, May 13 giving him an appointment for 9am, leaving little more than an hour to get to the medical centre.

Ribó tweeted: "After weeks of giving the data for vaccination, "coincidentally" at 7.45 am I received a message to be vaccinated at 9 am."
Sharing a snap of him getting his jab, he urged: "Please do not leave more people aged 73 and 74 in limbo without being vaccinated," while thanking the "fantastic health professionals" who looked after him.
The Valencia Region Health Department plans to start vaccinating people aged 55 to 59 from May 17, and estimated that during the first half of June all those over 50 years of age will have received at least one dose.
Many international residents have contacted the newsdesk expressing their concerns that they have been overlooked. Other readers have reported going along to the mass vaccination centres even without an appointment and successfully obtaining a vaccine.
The most important point is to ensure that details are correct at the local health centre and keeping an eye open for information in the media, as from time to time open mass vaccinations are taking place for specific age groups without prior appointments being given.
