Which supermarkets will open this Constitution bank holiday in the Region of Murcia?
Friday December 6 and Sunday December 8 are both bank holidays throughout Spain
The first weekend in December is a significant one in Spain, with two national holidays falling in quick succession. Friday December 6 is Constitution Day, a date that commemorates the 1978 referendum that marked the beginning of democracy in Spain.
This historic day is followed by Sunday December 8, which is the Day of the Immaculate Conception. However, in Murcia, this holiday is observed on Monday December 9, creating a long weekend, or ‘puente’, throughout the entire Region of Murcia.
As a result, many businesses, bars and shops may adjust their schedules, including supermarkets. If you're planning to do some shopping over the long weekend, it's a good idea to check the opening hours of your local supermarket in advance.
While supermarket opening hours on Constitution Day (Friday) are fairly cut and dried, hours could vary from town to town on Sunday and Monday, so it’s best to confirm the schedules before heading out.
Here’s a run-down of the supermarket and shopping centre openings in the Region of Murcia on Friday December 6:
