ARCHIVED - Wet and stormy weekend ahead in Valencia region: November 19
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast over the weekend on the Costa Blanca
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has forecast a miserable weekend of weather across the Valencia region, with a notable drop in temperatures on Sunday.
Cloudy and overcast skies are expected on Saturday, with rainfall and storms in the evening, more frequent and intense on the coast where they are likely to be "locally strong".
Light to moderate north and easterly winds are forecast, and the minimum temperatures will begin to rise on Saturday, but fall again on Sunday, with minimums of 13 degrees Celsius, and maximum temperatures of 20.
Sunday will also break with cloudy skies followed by occasional rainfall and thunderstorms, more likely in the north of the region and coastal areas.
Winds are expected to blow lightly from the west, with moderate intervals on the south coast, and whilst minimum temperatures will drop, maximum temperatures will be slightly higher.
Aemet has also warned of three to five force winds on the coast of Alicante, occasionally force six in parts, with periods of strong swell and one-metre waves.
Temperatures in the provincial capitals over the last 24 hours have been as follows:
- Alicante: 9.7 (min) and 14.5 (max)
- Valencia: 12.3 and 16.2
- Castellón: 8.7 and 16.7
