It’s never fun when a flight is delayed, but at least if we’re still in the airport we can kill some time browsing around the shops or grabbing a drink. But is there anything more frustrating than being told you’re going nowhere after you’ve already boarded the plane?
Passengers hoping to jet off for an island break in Ibiza were faced with this frustration last week. No sooner were their bums in the seats than the pilot announced their take-off from Madrid would be delayed. But rather than mumbling and grumbling, this particular flight decided to turn the snag into an impromptu concert which has taken the internet by storm.
The star of this airborne adventure is Andi, a talented flight attendant with a passion for cheering up her passengers. With the help of a companion, Andi took to the phone system and blasted the classic “Hit the Road Jack” by Ray Charles, much to the surprise and delight of those on board.
But the most unexpected twist was yet to come. It turned out that the ‘Mayumana’ musical group was also on the flight, returning from a performance. The musicians couldn’t resist joining in, turning the delay into an improvised party.
TikTok users shared the unique experience, with videos showcasing the flight attendants and passengers grooving and clapping along. The internet has fallen in love with the heart-warming scene, with the videos racking up more than three million views and thousands of comments.
Comments like, “Wow, that stewardess knew how to keep the passengers calm”, and “What a beautiful voice”, have flooded the posts. Users are even asking for the airline’s name, vowing to fly with them for the chance to experience such fun themselves.
