It looks like, after so many weeks of strong wind and showers, Murcia is due to have a truly lovely, calm and sunny weekend.

 

Clear, blue skies are forecast for this entire weekend with nary a cloud visible in the sky.

 

While there were strong winds early this Thursday morning in the high-altitude inland areas of Murcia, the weekend ahead has no weather warnings active from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

 

Over the course of the weekend, minimum temperatures at night will decrease, from 5-6ºC in the north, 7-9ºC in the centre of the Region and 8-12ºC on the coast on Friday February 20, down to lows of 3-6ºC in the north and 7-9ºC on the coast by Sunday 22.

 

Maximum temperatures during the daytime, on the other hand, will remain fairly stable, reaching up to 19-22ºC in the early afternoons, and even rising up to 23-25ºC in the northern and central areas on Sunday, though the coastal areas will remain at around 19-20ºC.

 

 

Temperatures are forecast to increase even further going into next week, with highs of 27-29ºC in the central strip of the Region, from Lorca and Totana over to Molina de Segura and Murcia capital.

 

 

Very nice, indeed, and I don’t want to be the one to rain on everyone’s parade here, but it’s worth remembering that this happens pretty much every year – the weather takes a turn for the better around February/March, everyone gets overexcited and the crops in the fields all start to bloom, then there’s a sudden cold snap come March/April and it’s a disaster for the farmers and we all have to pull our big, thick coats out again.
