ARCHIVED - Two and a half million euros to be spent improving roads in Calpe urbanisations
Roads will be resurfaced across five residential areas in Calpe in the Marina Alta comarca of Alicante province.
An ambitious €2.5 million project has been approved which will see improvements to road surfaces on urbanisations in Calpe, some of which date back to the 60s and 70s.
The important tourist destination on the Costa Blanca is home to around 1,670 Britons and many of the streets on the most popular urbanisations are in a state of disrepair having deteriorated over the last 60 years.
The project is expected to take four months, and the first phase of road repairs will be carried out in the Benicuco area and Avenida Diputación.
Resurfacing will then be done in the Mascarat-Toix, Maryvilla, Canuta Baja, Canuta de Ifach, Canuta and Canuta Alta areas.
Meanwhile, a further €207,000 has also been earmarked to patch up streets across Calpe over a three-month period.
Earlier this year, Calpe town hall presented plans for urbanisation work on section 6 of the Vial J, a €1.7 million project which will connect Avenida Casa Nova with Avenida Rumanía and aims to decongest traffic along the coast.
