ARCHIVED - Three new skate parks to be built in the municipality of Orihuela
The parks will be located in La Aparecida, Orihuela Costa and the centre of Orihuela
The department of Sports in the municipality of Orihuela has announced that three new skate parks are to be built in order to meet the high demand for this type of sport in the area.
The first skate park will be built in the Sports Centre in La Aparecida in two months’ time and will be 9 metres long and 23 metres wide. The park will have improved railings and full facilities to accommodate roller-skaters, skateboarders and will even have a BMX “bowl”. The total cost of the skate park is expected to be around 55,000 euros.
Two further skate parks will be built in the Municipal Sports Centre in Orihuela Costa and next to the Ociopía shopping centre in Orihuela.
This project has been highly requested by residents for some time and is in accordance with the objectives established by the department of Sports in 2019, which included recovering, remodelling and constructing new areas for sporting activities in the municipality of Orihuela.
Another objective set by the department was to increase energy efficiency in sporting facilities; the use of energy has been improved in the Campo Municipal of La Murada and new LED illumination towers have been installed.
