ARCHIVED - Storms with muddy rain and tropical nights ahead: Alicante weather outlook Oct 3-6
Instability marks the week in Alicante province where air from the Sahara will once again enter the region

The week ahead looks set to bring a bit of everything in Alicante province with the entry of a pocket of warm air from the Sahara that looks set to leave storms, which could lead to muddy rain and tropical nights, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Although the weather will be unsettled with torrential rain forecast, temperatures will still exceed 26ºC. However, Aemet has warned that the risk period for the cold drop has been brought forward a month and from this week any cold air pocket in the atmosphere has the potential to generate intense storms and lots of rain in a short space of time.
Monday October 3 will get off to a cloudy start with scattered and occasional precipitations likely; dust suspension is likely so they could be accompanied by mud and some thunderstorms. Temperatures will rise, with minimum temperatures ascending more sharply. A light variable wind, predominantly easterly, can be expected in the afternoon.
Alcoy: 17ºC to 28ºC
Alicante: 20ºC to 28ºC
Denia: 18ºC to 27ºC
Elche: 17ºC to 29ºC
Orihuela: 18ºC to 29ºC
The first half of Tuesday October 4 will be cloudy with scattered and occasional showers accompanied by mud and some thunderstorms which will give way to cloudy intervals and light, easterly winds in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures will fall slightly.
Alcoy: 16ºC to 25ºC
Alicante: 19ºC to 26ºC
Denia: 18ºC to 27ºC
Elche: 17ºC to 27ºC
Orihuela: 17ºC to 29ºC
Again, Wednesday October 5 will be marked by occasional scattered showers, more likely in the south of the province, with possible thunderstorms. There will be little if any change in temperatures, and light variable winds, tending towards east and southeasterly are forecast.
Alcoy: 16ºC to 25ºC
Alicante: 19ºC to 27ºC
Denia: 18ºC to 27ºC
Elche: 18ºC to 27ºC
Orihuela: 18ºC to 28ºC
Cloudy skies with occasional rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, which could be locally heavy, particularly in coastal areas, will shape Thursday October 6. Maximum temperatures will fall slightly and winds from the east and northeast will be light, with moderate intervals on the coast.
