Spain to face England in Euro 2025 final for repeat of World Cup clash
England and Spain are set for a rematch of the 2023 World Cup final in this Sunday’s showdown
Spain booked their place in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 final with a dramatic 1-0 extra-time victory over Germany this Wednesday July 23, thanks to a decisive strike from Aitana Bonmatí.
The reigning world champions will now face England’s Lionesses in a highly anticipated rematch of the 2023 World Cup final, where Spain triumphed by a single goal in Sydney.
This time around, the stage is set in Basel, Switzerland, where the latest chapter of their modern rivalry will unfold on Sunday July 27.
England secured their spot in the final on Tuesday evening with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Italy, also in extra time. The back-to-back extra-time victories set the tone for what promises to be a fiercely contested finale between two of Europe’s strongest sides.
Spain, seeking their first European Championship title, will take on defending champions England in what is expected to be a sold-out St. Jakob-Park.
Both teams are in top form, and with recent history between them, the final is shaping up to be a classic.
