ARCHIVED - Scorcher of a weekend ahead in Alicante: weather outlook July 7-10
The mercury is set to rise again in Alicante province and the rest of the Valencia region
Wind, scattered rain and storms have marked much of the week so far in Alicante province with thunder and lightning in parts of the province, but all that is set to change as the mercury once again rises with highs of 35ºC in the Vega Baja area.
According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) a warm African front will lead to episodes of a sustained rise in temperatures across most of Spain this weekend, and the Valencia region is no exception.
Thursday July 7 will get off to a clear or lightly cloudy start with a slight drop in minimum temperatures but an increase in highs. Light variable winds early on will tend towards southeasterly as the day progresses.
- Alcoy: 18ºC (lows) to 30ºC (highs)
- Alicante: 22ºC to 30ºC
- Denia: 22ºC to 31ºC
- Elche: 20ºC to 32ºC
- Orihuela: 22ºC to 31ºC
Again, Friday July 8 will begin with light cloudy or clear skies, and isolated clouds further inland as the day evolves. The mercury is expected to remain stable or rise and a light variable wind in the morning will become light easterly and southeasterly later in the day with some moderate intervals on the coast.
- Alcoy: 19ºC to 31ºC
- Alicante: 21ºC to 30ºC
- Denia: 21ºC to 31ºC
- Elche: 20ºC to 32ºC
- Orihuela: 21ºC to 32ºC
Clear skies or light cloud accompanied by a rise in temperatures can be expected on Saturday July 9 and just light southerly winds; moderate intervals on the coast.
