ARCHIVED - Santa Pola scoops the most Qualitur flags for its beaches on the Costa Blanca
The coastal resort in Alicante province has been awarded 13 Qualitur flags in this year's round of presentations

Turisme Comunitat Valenciana has awarded 2022 Qualitur Flags to a total of 179 beaches on the Costa Blanca in recognition of quality tourism, the environment and accessibility - and the coastal town of Santa Pola has come out on top having received 13 flags for its coastline.
Across the Valencia region as a whole, the 179 recognised beaches represent 67% of the total, and Alicante province leads the way with 86 Qualitur Flags in 11 municipalities.
In Santa Pola, seven natural beaches and six urban stretches of sand have been recognised, all of which have ISO9001 and ISO14001 certification in quality and environmental management systems.
Receiving the awards, Councillor for Beaches, Ángel Piedecausa, pointed out that "the Qualitur flags are a recognition of the quality of our beaches and the environmental management carried out by the council. We are the seaside town with the most Qualitur flags in the Valencian Community and this reflects the ongoing commitment to caring for our coastline."
