ARCHIVED - Public Prosecutor endorses Covid passport at venues in the Valencia region
The Covid certificate would be required to enter Costa Blanca leisure and hospitality venues with a capacity of 50-plus from December 3
Valencia's Public Prosecutor's Office has endorsed the regional government's plan to implement the EU Digital Covid passport in certain leisure and hospitality venues.
The regional Prosecutor's Office stated this afternoon that it does not impose the implementation of the passport scheme, which means the final decision is now in the hands of the Superior Court of Justice
Subject to the outcome of this last judicial process, the certificate will be required in hotel and restaurant establishments with a capacity of more than 50 people; casinos, bingo halls and other spaces for recreational and gambling activities; outdoor celebrations and events; and for visits in hospitals and public and private nursing homes.
Whilst the actual length of time the measure may be in force for will be decided by the Superior Court, the Valencian government is proposing to introduce the scheme from Friday December 3 for a period of 30 days so that it remains in force over the festive holidays to try to curb a continued rise in the number of new daily Covid cases.
