ARCHIVED - New cases and recoveries exceed 3000 in Valencia region: Covid Update July 19
3,185 new Covid infections across region's three provinces including Alicante, with almost as many people given the all-clear.
While there have been almost as many recoveries (3,178) as new Covid diagnoses (3,185) since Friday, July 16, the number of infections is significantly higher than the 1,970 recorded 14 days ago and has seen the cumulative incidence rate leap to 485 cases per 100,000 people.
The region is immersed in a fifth wave - now being dubbed as a 'new wave' with a threefold rise in the 14-day incidence rate across all age groups - but across the board has jumped from 432 in three days.
While the new data puts the region behind the likes of Catalonia, with an incidence rate of 1,234, Navarra (893) and Cantabria (601), it remains well above the Region of Murica (278) and Andalucia (396), though all of these regions have also experienced a hike.
The 3,185 new cases bring the total number of positives since the start of the pandemic to 434,694. By provinces, there have been: 63 in Alicante (156,314 in total); 2,057 in Valencia (233,537 in total); and 365 in Castellón (44,841 in total).
Hospitals: There are currently 527 Covid patients being treated in Valencian hospitals (up from 447 on Friday), of which 66 are in ICU (up from 62): 74 In Alicante province, nine of them in ICU; 401 in Valencia, 55 of them in ICU; and 52 in Castellón, two in ICU
Recoveries: 3,178 people have recovered since Friday, July 16, meaning 414,160 people have been given the all-clear since the start of the pandemic: 151,750 in Alicante province; 219,359 in Valencia; and 42,992 in Castellón.
Fatalities: There has been one deaths recorded in the last seven days, meaning the total now stands at 7,471: 2,850 in Alicante; 3,812 in Valencia; and 809 in Castellón.
Active cases: There are currently 24,525 active cases, which represents 5.50 per cent of the total positives.
Vaccinations: A total of 2,931,673 people have now received at least one dose and 2,400,520 are fully immunised. By provinces: 860,320 in Alicante; 1,254,484 in Valencia; and 285,716 in Castellón.
