ARCHIVED - More than two thousand new cases in Valencia region: Covid update July 20
2,112 positives recorded in 24 hours with 736 in Alicante province.
The trend of more than 2,000 daily infections continues in the Valencia region, with the Ministry of Health today confirming 2,112 Covid positives in the last 24 hours.
The rebound is also apparent in hospitals across the three provinces, including Alicante, with admissions up - though 1,581 people have been given the all-clear since yesterday's update.
Worryingly, the regional health department has revealed Alicante province is once again classed as 'extreme risk' with an incidence rate of 289 cases per 100,000 inhabitants - though well below the region's average which now stands at 496 (up from 485), and the national rate of 622.
Hospitals: There are currently 517 Covid patients being treated in Valencian hospitals (10 less than on Monday), of which 79 are in ICU (up from 66): 82 In Alicante province, 10 of them in ICU; 386 in Valencia, 57 of them in ICU; and 49 in Castellón, two in ICU
Recoveries: 1,581 people have recovered since Monday, meaning 415,741 people have been given the all-clear since the start of the pandemic: 152,025 in Alicante province; 220,528 in Valencia; and 43,129 in Castellón.
Fatalities: There have been no reported deaths, meaning the total remains at 7,471: 2,850 in Alicante; 3,812 in Valencia; and 809 in Castellón.
Active cases: There are currently 25,056 active cases, which represents 5.59 per cent of the total positives.
Vaccinations: A total of 2,979 .739 people have now received at least one dose and 2,416,146 are fully immunised. By provinces: 865,658 in Alicante; 1,263,300 in Valencia; and 287,188 in Castellón.
