Mild weather continues this weekend: Alicante forecast May 9-12

Minimum and maximum temperatures on Saturday

Spring is always an unpredictable season with rapid shifts in weather; however, this year has been unusual with extended periods of high temperatures, sometimes reaching as high as 30ºC, followed by milder conditions that have still rarely dipped below the mid 20s.

According to the latest predictions by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the mercury could climb into the 30s again in the next few days, but there is also the chance of some rain and thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon. Fortunately, these rains are likely to avoid Alicante altogether, confining themselves instead further north in Valencia and Castellón.

Thursday May 9

We can expect a partly cloudy or clear morning and increasing high clouds in the afternoon. Temperatures will remain similar to those of the previous day, though there might be a slight surge in some parts.

Light winds blowing variably in the morning and from the south-east in the afternoon.

Minimum and maximum temperatures on Thursday

Alcoy: 10ºC to 22ºC

Alicante: 14ºC to 24ºC

Denia: 13ºC to 26ºC

Elche: 11ºC to 25ºC

Orihuela: 11ºC to 25ºC

Friday May 10

Friday will be much the same, without the increase in temperatures. Partly cloudy skies will give way to lots of clear spells with moderately strong easterly winds along the coast.

Alcoy: 11ºC to 24ºC

Alicante: 15ºC to 23ºC

Denia: 13ºC to 23ºC

Elche: 12ºC to 25ºC

Orihuela: 12ºC to 26ºC

Saturday May 11

Daytime temperatures should remain steady while night-time temperatures could fluctuate by a degree or two either way.

The skies will be mostly sunny with intermittent high clouds. East and south-easterly winds will blow persistently but lightly in most parts.

Alcoy: 12ºC to 25ºC

Alicante: 15ºC to 23ºC

Denia: 13ºC to 24ºC

Elche: 12ºC to 25ºC

Orihuela: 12ºC to 26ºC

Sunday May 12

Change could be afoot on Sunday, although the forecast is still very uncertain this far ahead. For now, Aemet predicts more of the same – partially cloudy skies and high clouds early in the day. However, later in the afternoon, there is a small chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms in the interior regions of Valencia and Castellón, but these are unlikely to reach Alicante province.

No major changes are anticipated in temperatures or wind strength, which should continue to blow gently from the east.

Alicante: 16ºC to 23ºC

Denia: 14ºC to 24ºC

Elche: 14ºC to 25ºC

Orihuela: 13ºC to 27ºC
