Spain weekend weather forecast: May 9-12
High temperatures will give way to stormy intervals in parts of Spain over the next few days

Maximum temperatures on Friday afternoon
The weather so far in May has certainly kept us guessing, between heavy storms and winds in northern Spain and scorching temperatures and blue skies in the south.
We can look forward to another few days of heat as we head towards the weekend but the instability will return in the form of a DANA late on Saturday or early Sunday, bringing with it a good chance of rain and falling temperatures.
Thursday May 9

On Thursday, anticyclonic weather will dominate, and most of Spain will be dry, bright and sunny. An easterly wind will strengthen on the coast of Cádiz, where some low cloud cover will also gather.
Temperatures will continue to rise, spreading the heat to more areas of inland Spain than earlier in the week. Overall, maximum daytime of between 25 and 30ºC will be reached in most of the country.
Friday May 10

On Friday, a shallow DANA will approach Galicia, which will lead to a slightly more unsettled outlook, but the weather should remain pleasant for the most part. Any clouds will be punctuated with plenty of sunny spells in the south, although it will grow more overcast in the evening in northern Spain and there’s a chance of a few afternoon storms.
The mercury will continue its climb and at the moment, Friday is tipped to be the hottest day of the week, with maximum temperatures that will easily exceed 30ºC in the interior of the extreme south of the country.
Saturday May 11

The lingering DANA will be immersed in a cold front which will create lots of storm activity over the weekend, pulling the temperatures right down at the same time.
On Saturday, stormy showers with some hailstorms will mainly affect the northwest of the country. There’s also a chance that some dispersed showers could hit mountainous areas of eastern Spain.
Temperatures will begin to drop, especially in areas affected by storms, although it will still be very warm in most of the south. Strong easterly winds will blow on the Andalusian coasts, Ceuta and Melilla.
Sunday May 12

Once again the showers and storms on Sunday will mainly impact the north of the country, where they will be locally very strong and could be accompanied by hail.
The daytime temperatures will take another dip in most places, although the mercury will climb once more along the Mediterranean coast.
