May 8 to 10 Fiestas de la Cruz de Mayo 2026 in Calabardina Águilas
Live entertainment, a procession, music, dancing and food for all in the seaside village of Calabardina
The first week of May is a time to celebrate the spring and fiestas relating to the tradition of the Crosses of May are common throughout Spain around these dates.
In the pretty seaside village of Calabardina, in the municipality of Águilas in the south-west of the Region of Murcia, every year the Cruces de Mayo are celebrated with traditional music, dancing, a procession and of course, food!
The festivities are taking place alongside Calle Cotopaxi, where the summer fair is installed every year, and the program for 2025 is as follows:
Friday May 8
22.30: Live entertainment from Edu Mambo.
22.30: Orquesta Show TocaDiscos.
Saturday May 9
9.30: Petanca tournament organized by Asociación Calabardina and La Pulgara Lorca.
21.30: Sardine barbecue, free for all those attending, with entertainment from Lumaky and Son de Amores.
Sunday May 10
10.00: Holy Mass.
11.00: The Cruces de Mayo procession with the figure of the Virgen del Carmen.
12.00: A horse ride to the beach of La Cola, followed by a “carrera de cintas” competition and an equestrian exhibition.
13.30: Live entertainment from Rosa María Luján.
14.00: Paella for all, 3 euros per portion.
14.30: Live music from Ainhoa.

Águilas boasts 28 kilometres of coastline, with many fine, sandy beaches, sheltered coves and unspoilt natural beaches. It is a great summer favourite with Spanish holidaymakers, so always has a superb programme of concerts and activities throughout the summer, as well as the biggest carnival in the Region of Murcia, 40 days before Semana Santa (Easter.)
Throughout the year it also has a number of museums and historical attractions, a castle with fabulous views overlooking the bay and several other points of interest, all of which make it an good place to visit for days out. Throughout the year the tourist office runs monthly guided tours and the route of the railways, which explores the railway history of the town.
The tourist information office is located in the Plaza de Antonio Cortijos, just a short walk from the sea front and Plaza de España, a cool, shaded space in which to enjoy a coffee.
