June 21-30 First ever San Juan fiesta in Orihuela Costa
The Orihuela Costa Festival Commission has planned 9 days of music, dance and water sports
The Orihuela Costa Festival Commission is less than six months old but it’s fair to say the group hasn’t let the grass grow under its feet. The dedicated neighbourhood association arranged the well-received Carnival back in February and now, for the first time ever, a 9-day San Juan fiesta will be held between June 21 and 30.
The main night-time celebrations will take place in the enormous car park of Zenia Boulevard shopping centre, but plenty of events are also planned for the region’s beaches, most of which finally have bars and toilets by now.
Here’s what you can expect from the festival:
Morning beach activities
June 22: Gymkhana on La Glea beach
June 23: Sand castle contest on La Glea beach
June 24: Water party, Emerald Bingo
June 25: Sand castles in the Barrancho beach
June 26: Various family activities at Barrancho
June 27: Zumba at La Glea beach
June 28: Zumba at Barrancho
June 29: Paella in La Zenia
June 30: Water games on La Glea
Evening activities – every day from 7pm until 1am
Please note parking will be available in front of Zenia Boulevard Commerical Centre
June 21: Inauguration of the Fiestas San Juan with the big light switch-on and live DJ
June 22: Los Cuervos and DJ
June 23: San Juan Festival Hogueras and DJ
June 24: Various music performances and DJ
June 25: Dance battle (registration now open) and DJ
June 26: Queen and Knight of the Festival election and DJ
June 27: Children’s show and DJ
June 28: Los Cuervos and DJ
June 29: 80s and 90s music
June 30: DJ I Love Reggaeton OC and late-night party and fireworks
Of course, the San Juan festivities wouldn’t be complete without the traditional bonfires, but at the moment it’s unclear whether this will be allowed to happen on any of the Orihuela Costa’s beaches.
