Spain's representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will be chosen during the week-long festival

Benidorm Fest 2023, a seven-day festival of concerts and events during which Spain's representative at this year's Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will be chosen kicks off on Sunday January 29.

Hopes are high that audience figures recorded at last year's debut Fest will be surpassed, and the event will once again be hosted by Spanish TV channel, RTVE, and presented by Mónica Naranjo, Rodrigo Vázquez and Inés Hernand.

2022's representative, Chanel, came third for Spain with 'SloMo', a raunchy, flamenco-inspired reggaeton hit reminiscent of breakout Spanish superstar Rosalia.

During the presentation of the 2023 line-up, TV presenter Monica Naranjo promised: "The participants of Benidorm Fest stand out for their authenticity. We are all going to be very pleasantly surprised by some of the performances."

In addition to live performances, gastronomy will play a major role in this year's festival, and Benidorm's hospitality industry is staging a tapas route to encourage consumption in local businesses.

Sunday January 29: Official opening of Benidom Fest

The festival will begin with a formal reception for all participants followed by closed-door concerts broadcast on social media. Performances include Unión Musical de Benidorm, Carlos Higes, Rosa López and Sociedad Musical La Nova de Benidorm.

Monday January 30: Euroclub

The festival's parallel programme will begin on Monday January 30 with talks and various activities. For those who don't have tickets for the galas, various concerts and surprises are scheduled. There will also be performances at Benidorm Palace by Sara Deop, Carmen Puente, Xeinn, Azúcar Moreno and Nena Daconte. Tickets for these concerts are now on sale at the Benidorm Fest sales portal.

Tuesday January 31: First semi-final

The contest itself will begin at the Palau d'Esports on the January 31 with the first semi-final in which the following contestants will take part: Agoney, Alice Wonder, Aritz, Fusa, Nocta, Megara, Meler, Sharonne, Sofia Martin, Twin Melody.

Wednesday February 1

Concerts by Gatika, Karina, Tanxugueiras, Ruth Lorenzo and Guapo Calavera at Benidorm Palace.

Thursday February 2: Second semi-final

The following hopefuls will take part in the second semi-final: Alfred, Blanca, Paloma, E'Femme, Famous, José Otero, Karmento, Rakky Ripper, Siderland, Vicco.

Friday February 3: Open-air concert

Performances by Soraya Arnelas, Marta Sango, Gonzalo Hermida, Ronelo and WRS in an open-air concert in Benidorm's Plaza Triangular.

Saturday February 4: Grand final

The finalists who have made it through the semi-finals will perform and Spain's representative at Eurovision 2023 will be chosen and announced.
