ARCHIVED - How many people can be in a car together under Covid rules?
What the current restrictions are for passenger numbers in cars in Spain and the Murcia Region

During the worst, most serious waves of the coronavirus pandemic, there were limitations on the number of people who could travel in a car together. Those restrictions have now been scrapped.
Back when Spain was in lockdown and suffering the worst effects of Covid-19, the police handed out hundreds of fines to people breaking the rules by travelling in a vehicle together when they shouldn’t. In 2020, only one person was allowed to be in a car, and in 2021 this was relaxed somewhat to allow two people to sit in a vehicle per row of seats.
So, how many passengers are allowed in a car together now?
With the arrival of the ‘new normal’, there is now no limitation on the number of people who can travel together in a vehicle, at least as far as Covid is concerned. Of course, it should only be one person per seat! There are currently no restrictions on private transport, so it is not necessary to leave free spaces between people, and you cannot be fined for not doing so.
At the moment, no autonomous community anywhere in Spain has Covid restrictions on how many people can travel in private cars or vans, whether they are cohabitants or not.
However, it is still recommended to maintain a safe distance from anyone outside your bubble, and to always wear a facemask when this distance cannot be maintained.
In taxis and similar services like Uber, however, the front passenger seat cannot be occupied, so only between three and five people can travel, depending on whether the vehicle has five or seven seats. So if there are four of you, ask for a high-capacity vehicle or two different cars. And here, of course, wearing a face mask is compulsory.
