Alfaz del Pi is home to an array of different overseas nationalities, predominantly British, Norwegian and Belgian, and to help expats make new friends while learning a new skill and practising Spanish, the residents' department is once again staging its popular creative sewing club.

"The main objective of this multicultural course is to bring together people of different nationalities, to promote integration and provide an opportunity to meet people from different countries, share experiences, have fun and, of course, practice Spanish," explained Councillor for Residents, Martine Mertens.

The first sewing course held last year was very well attended, and attracted expats from the UK, Norway, France, Belgium, Morocco, Colombia and Cuba, as well as local Spanish women.

Subsidised by the Valencia Government's Department of Social Inclusion, the course takes place on Mondays, from 9.30am to 11am at the Centro + Social, led by Verónica Calvente.

Anyone interested can contact the Pangea Office in Alfaz del Pi, located in the social centre, between 9am and 2pm. Places are limited.

Registration is free, you only have to contribute 10 euros for the purchase of materials.

Alfaz's Pangea office is part of the Valencia Government network and offers courses and activities aimed at the training and social integration of residents. It also provides information, advice and guidance to migrants with an emphasis on interculturality.
