ARCHIVED - Covid cases continue to decline in the region of Valencia: Alicante Covid update May 12
133 cases reported in the region of Valencia and 27 in the province of Alicante
The Valencian regional health authorities have administered a total of 2,098,676 coronavirus vaccines to date; 245.530 in Castellón province, 773.645 in Alicante province and 1.079.501 in Valencia province. 676,207 people are now fully vaccinated in the region, having received either two doses of Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca or a single dose of the monodose Janssen vaccine.
The most recent daily covid bulletin posted by the regional government on May 12 reports 133 new coronavirus cases in the Comunidad Valenciana and 27 in the province of Alicante, where the average number of cases in the past 7 days is 38.57.
The number of Covid patients in hospital is slowly decreasing in the province, with Wednesday’s update showing 46 patients, of whom 9 are in intensive care. In the region of Valencia there were 168 people in total hospitalized for Covid, according to the latest update.
In the Comunidad Valenciana, the 7-day average number of positive diagnoses continues to decrease and the figure reported in the latest update posted on Wednesday is 123, a slight drop from the figure at the end of April, which was 186.
The latest official cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 residents in the past 14 days in the region of Valencia is 32.9, a figure which appears to be inching down to the “new normality” risk zone (incidence rate of under 25).
The Spanish regions with the highest cumulative incidence rates are the Basque Country (371.54), Madrid (277.19) and Aragón (269.6). On the other hand, the Balearics (55.91) and the Region of Murcia (62.99) are the regions with the lowest rates, after the Comunidad Valenciana.
