Cannabis crops found at luxury villas in Altea, Alicante guarded by dogs and CCTV
Two of the seven arrested run a hotel in the coastal town in the Marina Baixa region on the Costa Blanca

Two large marijuana plantations have been discovered at luxury villas on two residential developments in Altea, closely guarded by six "dangerous breed" dogs and CCTV.
Seven people, five men and two women, aged between 21 and 42, have been arrested for crimes against public health, some of whom have police records for other offences.
The leader of the alleged criminal gang and another of those now under investigation, reportedly ran the operation along with a hotel in Altea, while the rest of the members allegedly helped in the logistics, security and maintenance of the plantations.
The investigation began in January following an anonymous tip-off to the possible existence of two indoor marijuana plantations in at least two locations in the town.
In the first phase of the operation, the Guardia Civil located the plantations on two luxury urbanisations and identified the alleged members of the gang.
On April 25, simultaneous searches were carried out at the houses and the hotel, with the support of Alicante's Citizen Security Unit (USECIC), and Altea Local Police with canine assistance from police dog Oso.
