British-run Mazarron business in the spotlight following claims of sexual harassment
A company based in the Murcia town is being investigated after a British employee accused her boss of sexually abusing her

The Guardia Civil in the Region of Murcia is investigating an alleged case of sexual and labour harassment and abuse in Mazarrón after a 46-year-old British woman accused her boss, also British, of a series of inappropriate advances and behaviour dating back a year.
The woman filed a complaint at the Mazarrón police headquarters in which she stated that she had been the victim of sexual harassment and abuse by her boss, with whom she had been working for the last two years.
Specifically, she said that the harassment began in the summer of last year, when her boss bought her some shorts and a top on the grounds that “it was hot”.
From then on, the sexual harassment happened almost daily. The woman stated that while she was at work, her boss touched her breasts, crotch and backside, that he made indecent propositions, sent her messages with sexual content and offered her money for oral sex, which she always refused.
“On one occasion he put money under my bra, grabbing me by the hips and putting his hand in to see what colour her knickers were,” the woman said.
She also stated that he even offered her gifts and lent her money when she was having a hard time financially, later requesting sexual favours in return.
Faced with her constant refusals, there were months when the employer reportedly didn’t pay the woman her salary as a form of punishment.
In this regard, the woman, who is being assisted in her case by criminal lawyer Eduardo Romera, provided as evidence several WhatsApp messages with conversations in which she asked him to stop harassing her:
“You know very well what you are doing, telling me that I can have more money if I have sex with you or let you give me oral sex or send you pictures of me in my underwear, withholding money because I don’t want to kiss you and offering me 20 euros to kiss you and always trying to constantly touch my tits, ass and between my legs,” the messages read.
Her employer’s response in the WhatsApp messages was, “I’m sorry for the things I said in the past and I regret it, because it will never happen again.”
The woman told police that the reason she hadn’t reported it before because she needed the money.
It was only after the boss’s wife found out about the harassment and sexual abuse and the alleged victim was fired from her job that she approached police to file a report.
