British woman, 76, stabbed to death by partner on the Costa Blanca

A 76-year-old British citizen has been found stabbed to death in her home on the Costa Blanca and her 82-year-old Norwegian partner has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

“We can confirm that today at 7.40am we were alerted to a possible domestic violence incident at a property in Orihuela Costa which resulted in the death of the victim.

“The wounds she had could correspond to an attack with a bladed weapon,” a spokesperson for the Guardia Civil confirmed on Friday September 15.

It’s understood that the elderly expat couple lived together at the Orihuela property but it’s not clear if they were married.

An unconfirmed report suggests that a neighbour and friend of the of the pair called the emergency services. The suspect in the murder reportedly asked the unnamed man to come to the house so he could hand himself in to police.

Guardia Civil sources said there were no previous reports of any altercations or violence between the alleged attacker and his victim.

Back in March, a 60-year-old British man was arrested by Orihuela Costa police fleeing the house where his wife, also English, was found dead from multiple stab wounds.

Tragically, the suspect was known to the local law enforcement as he had been reported for domestic violence in 2019, just two years after the couple moved to Spain.
