<span style='color:#780948'>ARCHIVED</span> - Body of one of two missing teenagers recovered from the sea in Calpe

The body of one of two teenagers who jumped off Peñón de Ifach into the sea in Calpe on Sunday April 24 has been recovered and an underwater and aerial search is still underway to find the second young male.

The 18-year-old reportedly jumped into the sea from the rock's heliport before being dragged underwater and disappearing just after 4pm, according to Alicante Consortium of Firefighters.

Realising his friend was in trouble and unable to swim back to safety, the second young man who is still missing jumped in to try to rescue him, but tragically both were engulfed in high waves and swept out to sea.

The Alpha 01 rescue helicopter together with a firefighter rescue team (GER) and a Salvamento Marítimo helicopter were immediately mobilised and after several hours, located the body of one of the teens, but sadly the second young male has still not been found.
