ARCHIVED - Benidorm Pride Festival to make spectacular come-back following Covid restrictions: September 5-11
The mammoth celebrations in the Marina Baixa resort are expected to attract more than 20,000 people

Fiesta fever is hotting up in Benidorm as the final preparations get underway for what is expected to be the biggest and best Pride Festival yet following two years of Covid restrictions.
There will be six themed parties and a parade of more than 20 floats in this, the 12th festival, and more than 20,000 people are expected to hit the streets for the big-scale celebrations from September 5 to 11, according to Santos Torres, one of the organisers of the event that closes the European calendar of Pride festivals.
"Benidorm Pride has always been a benchmark for the LGBTI community...and this is one of our events of reference attracting thousands of people to the town and bringing a touch of colour so necessary following the last two years of the pandemic. We could not hold the event in 2020 and there was only a symbolic party in 2021. We expect an occupancy rate of 98% over the Pride weekend," added Councillor for Festivals and Events, Jesus Carrobles.
For the most part, the biggest activities will take place in the last five days of the festival, with the Great Parade taking place on Saturday September 10.
More than 20 floats, vintage cars and motorbikes will take to the streets at 5pm and travel along the Paseo de Levante and a stretch of the Avenida Mediterráneo ending at Julio Iglesias Auditorium in the Parque de l'Aigüera.
