ARCHIVED - Xabia (Jávea) installs first public electric vehicle charging point
The Alicante town has also announced that it will be applying discounts of between 50 and 75 per cent to taxes on hybrid and electric cars to encourage residents to go for greener vehicles
Work has been completed to provide lighting and an electric vehicle charging point, the first one in town on a public street, at the newly renovated Duantes parking area by Avenida del Puerto in Xàbia (Jávea) in the Marina Alta Comarca of the Alicante province, the council has announced.
The area in the seaside neighbourhood includes 160 parking spaces, eight of them reserved for the disabled, and a total of 176,222 euros has been spent on paving, painting, lighting and installing eight electric vehicle charging points with semi-fast power (22kw) and free access.
The public charging point joins those already in place in the town in underground car parks and outside the Amjasa offices as part of the ongoing commitment of the council to making the municipality greener.
