ARCHIVED - 67 year old foreign national dies walking Peñón d’Ifach in Calpe
The man passed out at the top and emergency services were unable to revive him
A 67-year-old foreign walker has died on Tuesday after passing out at the top of the Peñón d’Ifach in Calpe, in the province of Alicante.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at around midday when the walker climbed the imposing rock and lost consciousness at the top for reasons which have yet to be determined by autopsy. A fire brigade helicopter was sent to the area and staff on board attempted to resuscitate him, but their efforts were unsuccessful and by the time he had been transported down to the small heliport at the bottom of the Peñón it was too late for members of the SAMU to revive him. The man’s identity has not yet been revealed.
