ARCHIVED - Almost 5,000 jabs administered at mobile vaccination points: Valencia Covid update December 9
Thousands of people on the Costa Blanca have taken advantage of walk-in jabs without appointment since Friday December 3

In just six days, mobile vaccination points offering Covid jabs without appointment in Alicante and the rest of the Valencia region administered almost 5,000 vaccines, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
On Tuesday alone, 1,758 people were vaccinated at a mobile site installed in Plaza de Manises in Valencia, where long queues were recorded, and 945 doses were administered at a walk-in point in La Zenia Boulevard shopping centre in Orihuela Costa.
Over the weekend, 2,076 people were immunised at these points, bringing the total from last Friday to Wednesday December 8 to 4,899 doses, more than 800 of whom received their first dose.
The walk-in vaccination points in La Zenia shopping centre and Plaza de Manises have now closed, but there are further opportunities to get vaccinated in the region this week.
Walk-in jabs will be available at Plaza Mar 2 shopping centre in Alicante on Friday December 10 from 3pm to 8pm, and at the La Salera commercial centre in Castellon from 4pm to 9pm.
On Saturday December 11, a mobile vaccination point will also reopen in Benidorm's Finestrat Shopping Centre, from 4pm to 8.30pm.
The Ministry of Health has attributed a surge in vaccinations to the introduction of the mandatory Covid passport to enter certain leisure and hospitality venues, festivals and for hospital and elderly residence visits, which came into force last weekend.
Since the move was first announced on November 25, the administration of first doses has increased by 74% compared to the first week of the month.
The biggest growth has been in the province of Castellón, which has almost tripled its vaccination figures in one month.
During the first three weeks of November, static and mobile vaccination points administered around 4,600 first doses per week.
But this figure accelerated, with 7,524 jabs in the last week on the month. In fact, demand was so high on Black Friday (November 26) that opening hours had to be extended.
The regional government has confirmed it will continue to offer vaccinations without appointments over the next couple of weeks as the daily Covid cases continue to rise.
