ARCHIVED - Alicante allocates more than one million euro in aid to leisure and fiesta sectors
The funding is part of a bigger plan to alleviate the pressure on the industries most affected by Covid lockdowns in Alicante
The Local Development Agency of the Alicante City Council is currently preparing two new calls for aid of half a million euros each with the objective of alleviating the economic effects caused by the coronavirus restrictions on the leisure and fiesta industries. The funding is expected to be approved next week, and comes after more than 17 million euros have already been distributed to the sectors most affected by Covid shut downs.
A total of 150,000 euros in aid was initially approved at a municipal government meeting on Tuesday morning, September 7, which will be distributed among 50 small companies of between 11 and 20 employees. The aim of the City Council is to prevent more businesses from closing, with a further half a million set to be invested in the leisure industry shortly.
The Alicante council now has a credit of 45,000 euros in its coffers, since 15 businesses that applied for the aid didn’t meet the criteria. A second call will now be made to small industries and self-employed people working in the leisure and fiesta sectors to avail of the remainder of the funding.
