Three people, an adult and two minors, were injured following an explosion on a boat moored at Torrevieja port.

A 48-year-old man and two girls aged 12 and 15 years old were treated for minor burns at Torrevieja Hospital following the boating incident at around 12.35pm on Monday July 11.

The Emergency Coordination Centre immediately despatched a SAMU and a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance, and fortunately, the flames were quickly contained and extinguished so the "intervention of firefighters was not necessary". It's not yet clear what caused the explosion.

This isn't the first incident involving a boat in Torrevieja this month. On July 6, a fire broke out on a pleasure boat and as a precautionary measure, firefighters were sent to the scene, but again, the flames had already been brought under control.
