These are all the new Councillors in Orihuela and how you can contact the one who takes care of issues relating to International Residents
After the recent local elections in Spain, the Ayuntamiento de Orihuela, the town hall, now has new leadership and councillors formed a coalition of the Partido Popular (PP) and VOX parties.
As part of the reshuffle, the Councillorship for Equality has been scrapped, to be replaced by the Councillorship for Families.
This change has also been made in the Ayuntamientos of Burgos, Valladolid, Toledo, Ciudad Real in Spain, with VOX party leader Santiago Abascal stating that he rejects gender violence as “an ideological concept”.
In Orihuela, the Department of Social Welfare, LGTBI Equality and Rural Development has also received a makeover, being renamed simply ‘Social Welfare’ following a pact between new Mayor Pepe Vegar (PP) and the local VOX leader Manuel Mestre (Vox).
Since they are public servants, it is possible for regular residents to contact their local MPs and Councillors via official channels to air any complaints and make suggestions.
The new government team is as follows:
